The ninth planet in the Solar System – Harri's planet
BackWhen eight-year-old hospital learner, Harri, suffered an acquired brain injury, it meant he needed to undergo intensive rehabilitation. This resulted in a long hospital stay which has kept him away from his wider family, friends and school. It has been tough for Harri to have to learn many skills again. But he is an amazing little boy. His determination and sense of humour are contagious. Little did we know what an amazing learning adventure we would go on when we combined these qualities with one of Harri’s motivating factors, space. He told me ‘I love learning about space very, very, very much’. Harri has shown nothing but enthusiasm for all the amazing facts he has learned but it has been the hands-on learning of this subject that has excited him most. He has designed and built a Mars rover buggy for one of his soft toys and has made a beautiful Solar System wall display. This display takes pride of place in his room. If you look very carefully, you will see a ninth planet, Harri’s planet. He decided to add it because he enjoyed working with the clay so much and didn’t want the activity to end. It is a planet full of energy, fun and joy, just like the little boy it is named after.
