Welcome to Nyth y Deryn

At Nyth y Deryn, we are dedicated to supporting secondary-age learners who require additional help with their social, emotional, and behavioral needs, or who need extra mental health and wellbeing support. Our purpose is to provide a nurturing environment where each student can thrive and develop the skills they need to succeed in education.

Our Approach

We work closely with learners to create bespoke, personalised learning plans that address their specific needs. These tailored plans are developed in collaboration with the learner's home school and typically span up to a year. During this time, we focus on equipping each student with the strategies and skills necessary to reintegrate successfully with an appropriate educational setting.

Our curriculum follows the Curriculum for Wales, ensuring that learners receive a well-rounded and comprehensive education. Students are placed in small, focused teaching groups, each supported by a dedicated teacher and teaching assistant, allowing for individualised attention and support.

We maintain rigorous standards of teaching while fostering a warm, supportive atmosphere where every student feels valued. Our learners are encouraged to develop not only academically but also personally, gaining confidence and life skills that will serve them well both in and out of school.
