Nyth y Deryn caters for younger secondary age learners whose additional learning needs are social, emotional and behavioural difficulties or require additional mental health and wellbeing support.

Our focus is to work with learners on bespoke plans for their specific needs for up to a year in conjunction with their home schools. We aim to equip them with the skills and strategies they need to be able to return to their mainstream settings. We deliver the full breadth of Curriculum for Wales. Learners are arranged into small teaching groups with an allocated teacher and teaching assistant. 

We pride ourselves on the education and wellbeing opportunities we provide and the high standards of teaching and learning. Equally, we are also proud of the ethos and atmosphere of the school. Many visitors to the school comment on the warm welcome they receive and the politeness and maturity of our learners. In addition, returned learner and parent questionnaires give very positive feedback.
